ABA PlayThe ABA Play method was developed by Caroline Peters and comprises a number of phases which are worked through during the training.
The 6 phases are outlined below. Each phase is illustrated by one or more videos.
| 1 |
Always begin by making yourself interesting and attractive to the child. Observe and find out what the child likes. |
| 2 |
When you know what the child likes, reward appropriate behaviour and stop rewarding inappropriate behaviour. |
| 3 |
Teach the child to ask for things he wants. We call this 'manding'. |
| 4 |
Through play, teach the child different skills such as imitation, following instructions, playing etc. |
| 5 |
Teach the child to work at a table, as preparation for school or because some skills are learnt faster at a table. |
| 6 |
Teach the child to play with other children at playdates or preschool, or shadowing at school. |
